Hot-Wired

Paul Fretwell

The latest addition to the Music Orbit series, Hot-Wired presents new music where the laptop takes centre stage.  We're looking to showcase the widest possible variety of laptop-related music: carefully-crafted ambient drones, live mixing of acousmatica, complex electronica, off-the-wall beat mash-ups, live musicians and interactive systems, generative and real-time music, video+audio  - if it involves a laptop, we're interested!

Hot-Wired will bring together some of the most exciting musicians working with this technology, and we're already looking forward to the future. Our first event was 28th April 2010, at our new venue The Forge in Camden and we welcome anyone from the slightly curious to the die-hard fan.  Events offer a chance to talk to all of the artists involved, and we promise there'll be at least one thing you'll absolutely love. See performances from the event at www.youtube.com/musicorbitcouk

And for the laptop artists amongst you...

Are you making interesting music and looking for a showcase opportunity?  If so, we'd love to hear from you! We know there's a lot of good music out there that hasn't been given the opportunity it deserves.  Hot-Wired is seeking to promote new and emerging artists, so please send us some examples of your work.

Hot-Wired is a partnership event, curated by Paul Fretwell, Jo Thomas and Julio d'Escriván. This collaboration hopes to show the work of Kent, UEL and Anglia Ruskin student work, in conjunction with mO members.

Although we can't offer fees or travel expenses, we can get your work seen and heard in London, with events further afield planned later in our season.  You will be supported by Music Orbit through their wide-ranging promotion of artists, and be part of this new and exciting event, as well as introducing you to other members' work that may be of interest to you- so we hope that's enough to get you signing up for membership.
