opensource
Open Source is a platform opportunity to showcase very new work as a kind of ‘support slot’ to a larger event. For the last two years we have done this as part of the SPNM’s Sound Source events, first at the Luminaire, Kilburn and then at Kings Place, Camden. This strand of work is currently on hold, but we are hoping to use it in the future to interest other larger partners (such as festivals) in taking short curated programmes nationally.
In its first two seasons Open Source has been a great success, showcasing the latest work of a huge range of artists. Audiences have been consistently large, partly thanks to all the mO members and also thanks to all those warm audience members that attended because they had heard about the gig through the spnm. The performers all enjoyed their experience, gaining great London exposure. Our trademark sampler CD’s were also distributed at most events exposing the work of members to about 100 new listeners.
For those of you not at the event, or anyone who managed to miss one of our give away CDs on the night, there are archive recordings of most of the performances on the mO radio.
